nedzissou asked: Movies: 18, 20, 31 Books 5, 8, 19
Movies:
18) Favorite Movie Soundtrack
This is Spinal Tap…
20) A movie that was better than the book
There Will Be Blood is streets ahead of Oil! also The Divine Secrets of the Ya Ya Sisterhood…
31) 3 movies that you’re expecting excitedly!
I’m looking forward to seeing Hugo, The Hunger Games (no shame), and THE ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT MOVIE OBVIOUSLY
Books:
5) Your opinion on the screen adaptation of a book you’ve read
The Studio Ghibli adaptation of Ursula K LeGuin’s Earthsea books is pretty terrible
8) An overrated book
The Great Gatsby… as previously mentioned
19) Favorite quote
“Yes I said yes I will yes.” (The last line of Ulysses) is probably the quote I say most… and with the least amount of recognition.
panamanianmoon asked: 2, 3, 4, 26!
Movies:
2)What was the first movie you remember watching in theatres?
THE LION KING!
3) Top 5 Movies
Right now I’d say: The Royal Tenenbaums, True Stories, The Jerk, Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind, and There Will Be Blood
4) Top 5 Directors
Hiyao Miyazaki, The Coen Brother, Wes Anderson, Christopher Guest and I guess Tarantino or Spielberrrrg?
26) Favorite Love Story?
Harold and Maude or Dumb and Dumber
Books:
2) What was your favorite book/series as a child?
I loved the Redwall saga, as well as The Series of Unfortunate Events and Harry Potter of course. When I was really little I loved the My Father’s Dragon series. Also, does Calvin & Hobbes count?
3) Top 5 Books
That’s a tall order, at the moment I’m going to go with Wise Blood by Flannery O’Connor, Naked by David Sedaris, Breakfast of Champions by Kurt Vonnegut, The Twits by Roahl Dahl, and East of Eden by Steinbeck (honorable mention for Heart of Darkness and The Curious Sofa, a Pornographic Work by Ogdred Weary by Edward Gorey)
4) Top 5 Writers
They all have their moments, but I’m partial to the ones listed above.
26) A book/series you hate
I distinctly remember trying to read Watership Down and having violent flashbacks of being traumatized by the cartoon as a child, so I couldn’t finish it. I’ve never gotten far enough in a book to deem it hate-worthy. Although I do think too much emphasis is put on The Great Gatsby in high school English classes.
